The Recycling Process
Our process is straightforward:
1. Collection and Preparation
We ask our customers to prepare their wheelie bins by:
- Ensuring they are empty of any residual contents or rubbish – containers don’t need to be pristine, but be relatively clean and free of waste.
- Where possible removing axles and wheels to maximise stacking efficiency during transportation. Wheels and axles can be placed in the top bin of the stack for ease of handling.
This simple preparation helps lower transport costs and reduces the carbon footprint of collections.
2. Inspection and Sorting
Once the wheelie bins or crates arrive at our facility, they are thoroughly checked to ensure they are:
- Free from contamination, such as leftover waste or water.
- Clear of metal components, including axles and wheels.
After inspection, the material is weighed, and we calculate the rebate for your materials, adjusted for any contamination that needs removal.
3. Recycling and Processing
The bins and crates undergo a mechanical recycling process:
- The material is granulated and cleaned to remove any impurities.
- It is then packed into bags, ready for reuse to create new products.
The regrind can be used in the manufacturing of new plastic products, including new wheelie bins, crates, and other durable plastic items.

What do you take?
End-of-life wheelie bins, plastic crates, trays and other hard plastics, from businesses and local authorities.
Can the bins be reused once you have them?
No. Bins and crates are shredded and granulated, so nothing goes back into circulation and any branding is destroyed.
How much will it cost?
It depends on volume, condition and location. Clean, sorted loads cost less to process, and larger loads can earn a rebate. Contact us for a quote.
How do you collect?
We use RORO skips, curtain-side rigid lorries and articulated trailers, including regular milk-round collections. We collect across the East Midlands, and UK-wide for loads of around 5 tonnes or more.
