Recycling and waste management for Grantham businesses

Grantham sits on the A1 with a mix of food manufacturers, engineering firms and distribution sites, from Alma Park to the town centre. All of them produce cardboard, film and paper that can be recycled rather than paid for as general waste.

Acorn Recyclers collects from businesses across Grantham and the surrounding villages and takes the material back to our own yard at Wymeswold in Leicestershire, where it is sorted and baled before going on to paper mills and plastic reprocessors. Because we handle it ourselves, we can pay rebates on clean, separated grades.

What we collect in Grantham

  • Cardboard boxes and packaging from food and manufacturing sites
  • Shrink wrap, pallet wrap and polythene film
  • Office paper and print waste
  • Plastic crates, trays and rigid plastic packaging
  • Confidential documents for secure shredding

Collections that fit your site

Depending on what your site produces we can use RORO skips, curtain-side rigid lorries or articulated trailers. Smaller sites often start with a skip for cardboard and film; busier ones benefit from a baler on hire so collections are less frequent and the material earns more.

Turn packaging waste into income

If you’re paying a general waste contractor to take away cardboard and film, you may be throwing money away. Separating cardboard, plastics and paper and baling them can turn a cost into a rebate. Start with a free waste audit.

Grantham recycling FAQs

Do you collect from villages around Grantham?

Yes. We collect from businesses, farms and industrial units around Grantham as well as the town itself. Lincolnshire is one of our core collection areas, see our Lincolnshire page.

Is there a minimum quantity?

Collections in Grantham are arranged around what your site produces. Baled material, or a full skip or trailer, gives the best price per tonne. For sites outside the East Midlands, loads generally need to be around 5 tonnes or more.

Do you pay for cardboard and plastic?

We pay rebates on good, clean, separated grades. The rate depends on the material, quantity and market prices at the time, and we confirm it before we collect.

Do you collect general waste or single wheelie bins?

No. We don’t run refuse vehicles, so we can’t empty general waste bins or collect single bags. We focus on recyclable materials collected by skip, rigid lorry or trailer. We can also take confidential paper for secure shredding.
