If your site produces a steady amount of LDPE film or cardboard, it is probably costing you money in general waste or loose collections. With the right baler on site, the same material can earn you a rebate instead.
At Acorn Recyclers we can supply a mill-size baler for your site, collect the bales when you have a load, and pay you a rebate on good-quality material.
How it works
- Free site survey. We look at your site, what you produce and how much, and tell you honestly whether a baler makes sense.
- Baler supplied. We supply a mill-size baler on hire or to buy, depending on what suits you.
- Bale as you go. Your staff bale clean LDPE film and cardboard as part of the normal working day.
- Collection and rebate. When you have a load, we collect it and pay a rebate per tonne on good-quality material.
Why mill-size bales?
Mill-size bales are dense, uniform and ready to go straight to the end user. That means:
- More value per tonne than loose material
- Fewer collections, as more weight fits on each trailer
- Less space taken up on your site
- A tidier, safer yard
Loose film and cardboard is bulky and expensive to move. Baled properly, it becomes a commodity with a market value.
What makes a good-quality bale
The rebate depends on what the material is worth to the end user, so quality matters. For the best price:
- LDPE film should be clean and dry, with no food waste, strapping, tape or other plastics mixed in.
- Cardboard should be dry and free from polystyrene, plastic film, wood and general waste.
- Keep film and cardboard separate. Mixed bales are worth much less.
When the baler goes in, we will show your staff what goes in and what stays out.
Is a baler right for your site?
A baler suits businesses producing a regular flow of film or cardboard, such as manufacturers, distribution centres, warehouses, retailers and printers. If your volumes don’t justify a baler, we will tell you, and look at other options such as regular collections.
Where we work
We are based at Wymeswold, near Loughborough, and collect across Leicestershire and the East Midlands. For larger volumes we collect across the UK.
